The Best Makeup Looks For Spring & Summer 2013

Catherine Elizabeth loves the new makeup and hair trends, from all four spring/summer catwalk shows around the world!

We All Know when it comes to beauty looks, natural are always beautiful.  But so is a pop of colour on the face. Fortunately for us, the spring/summer catwalks shows around the globe, offered us both options this season.  Brilliant shades of blue and green were swept over the eyes at Stella McCartney and Versus, slicked vivid crimson on the lips at Jason Wu and Burberry, then emphasized neutral lips and glowing skin at shows like Dolce & Gabbana.  There were moments of major lashes and brows, but all of that was balanced by softly smudged eyeliner.  To emphasize this mix of strong versus subtle, play up the features you want to draw attention to with colour.  Or a touch of sparkle, which Chanel and Gucci showed beautifully this season, while keeping the rest of the look simple and glowing.

These new beauty and fashion trends for us girls translate into more excuses to get dolled up and try the latest fashion and beauty trends!  This season we are spoilt for choice, since there are so many bold and beautiful makeup looks for Spring/Summer 2013.
Here is your first installment to being bang on trend for spring/summer 2013.

Red Signals – Bright Coloured Matte Lips

blondered-lips

At first, it seemed like spring/summer would be a season of pale lips. Then red colors hit with a bang, most noticeably at Burberry where models wore a creamy scarlet hue that generated major buzz.  At Prada, makeup queen Pat McGrath went for a matte crimson, outlining the outermost part of lips in red pencil that accentuated the shape of the mouth (tip: this makes lips look bigger and fuller). All told, the season’s rouges ranged from pinky-red at Missoni and Oscar de la Renta to the classic power red at Jean Paul Gaultier to the dark and dramatic black cherry at Jonathan Saunders, proving the enduring appeal of being in the red.

Bold, bright coloured lip colours are the perfect way to dress up any outfit, which makes them perfect for the season ahead!  The way to wear the look and be on trend now is to keep your lip colour matte, which means leave the lip-gloss at home, and keep your lip colours shimmer free! Scarlet red and neon shades like fuchsia and coral are colours that are hot right now! This trend is perfect for both day and night functions.  During the day keep your eye makeup ‘barely there’ with just some mascara and maybe pearl coloured eye shadow, if you can not do without eye shadow, keeping the focus on your lips.  For a night out you can go all out with smudged eyeliner in a neutral colour like gray, brown or black.

Getting The Look

Here are some of our favorite lip shades that we love, that will help you create this stunning look.

Dior Summer Hair & Makeup Trend

This summer there are so many trends to choose from, which is very exciting.  We are going to share all our favorite looks that have been rocking the catwalk for this season we started with Louis Vuitton’s look and today we are sharing with you Dior’s look for the summer or 2012!

Dior’s look this summer is all about bold retro chic!  And we love it!

This modern pin up look is all about full defined eyebrows, colourful painted eyes and a coral or orange/red tone lip.

1940’s pin waves is a must for this look with or with out a gorgeous mid fringe.

To achieved this makeup look apply foundation with a brush & apply a loose powder to create a matt finish to the skin (try CHANEL Matt Lumiere or Estee Lauder Double Wear Giving A Flawless Matt Finish).

Next apply concealer around the eye area (try Estee Lauder Ideal Light, to illuminate the skin around the eye).

Apply a neutral eyeshadow to the brow bone and inner eyes (try MAC Brule).

Apply a bold colour of your choice over the lid and blend up to the socket (try MAC Chrome Yellow,Purple Haze or Electric Eel).

Apply a thin line of black gel eyeliner (try BOBBI BROWN Black or Sepia) and take this right to the corner of the eye and then create a slight wing upwards to lengthen the eye.

Apply a highlight to the corners of the eyes, along the bridge of the nose and on the cupid’s bow (try MAC eyeshadow in Mylar).

Apply black mascara to the upper and lower lashes (try Lancome Hypnose).

Apply a set of lashes to your eye (try EYLURE Katy Perry Cool Kitty lashes), they will make your eyes look amazing.

Follow with a peach or pink blush (depending on your skin tone) along the cheekbones not the apples (try MAC Melba or Fleur Power).

Finally apply a coral or red/orange tone lipstick to the lips (try MAC Ravishing or Lady Danger).

Dior pin up hair for this summer

Creating gorgeous 1940’s wave you can either use small heated rollers or a medium sized tong  (Using the tong once each section is curled roll up and secure with a grip to cool)

Seperate the hair to create a side parting if you do not have a fringe.

Spray each section of hair with a setting spray before applying heat (try PAUL MITCHEL Fast Drying Sculpt Spray).

Start with each side crating 3-4 for sections depending on the thickness of your hair and making sure you get heat right up into the roots to give lift.

The back section apply the same method as the sides but create a brick like formation with the curls (Curls/rollers should be offset from each other)

Once all your curls are cool, brush through the curls with a fine bristle brush or wide toothed comb.

Use flat sectioning clips or lady Jane’s to  hold the waves in place around the front section, curling the bottom ends under.

Apply finishing spray (try PUAL MITCHEL Fast Drying Sculpt Spray, as is a great finishing spray as well as a setting spray).

Remove your clips and your ready to rock you Dior Retro Chic look for the summer!

We hope you have fun creating your retro chic like look for this summer and watch out for our next post for our next summer makeup trend.

Stunning Makeup Trends For 2012

This summer there are so many trends to choose from, which is very exciting.  We are going to share all our favorite looks that have been rocking the catwalk for this season starting with Louis Vuitton’s look.

The Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Runway Show was a beautiful look with all the models sporting fluttering lashes and twinkling headbands in their hair.  Creating a feminine, sweet doll like look, with full eyebrows, dewy skin, gorgeous nude lips and the false eyelashes are the most important characteristic for this stunning summer look.

To achieved this look applying a small amount of foundation to create a dewy finish to the skin (try NARS Sheer Glow Foundation).

Next apply a neutral taupe eyeshadow to the eyelids and the crease (try MAC Skinfinish in Medium Deep).

Apply a thin line of black gel eyeliner (try BOBBI BROWN Black or Graphite Simmer) and take this right to the corner of the eye.

Apply a highlight to the corners of the eyes, along the bridge of the nose and on the cupid’s bow (try MAC eyeshadow in Mylar).

Apply black mascara to the upper and lower lashes.

Glue 2 full sets of lashes together and once dry apply these to your eye (try Eylure Cheryl lashes).

Warm the contours of the face with a light application of bronzer (try NARS Laguna bronzer) to the temples, hollows of the cheeks, tip of nose and jawline.

Follow with a peach blush along the cheekbones (try MAC Melba).

Finally apply a nude pink/peach lipstick to the lips (try MAC Shy Girl).

As you can see this is a stunning and playful look, we hope you have fun creating your doll like look for this summer and watch out for our next post for our next summer makeup trend.
